Forensic Scientists Compile Description Of Dead Woman

Grant County sheriff’s officials have released sketches of a young woman whose skeletal remains were found in a wildlife area by hunters in October.

Forensic scientists believe the woman was racially a mix of black and white, probably between the ages of 16 and 21. She died from a gunshot wound to the head, Sheriff William A. Wiester said Wednesday.

The woman was about 5 feet 2 to 5 feet 7 inches tall and had naturally dark brown hair that had been dyed light brown or auburn.

Three hunters discovered the remains in a remote area of Quincy Lakes Wildlife Refuge on Oct. 23. The body was so decomposed Grant County authorities asked a forensic anthropologist and a forensic dentist to help determine gender.

Experts believe the time of death was sometime between April and Oct. 23.

Detectives from Spokane’s serial killer task force traveled to Grant County to help investigate the mysterious homicide last month.

Capt. Doug Silver of the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department said the task force has not connected the case to Spokane’s serial killer victims, but have not ruled out the possibility either.
