Dollar Lower In Quiet Trading
The dollar fell slightly against the Japanese yen and German mark Tuesday as some concerns about slowing U.S. economic growth crept into an otherwise lifeless market.
With the year-end lull continuing, a few dealers took the opportunity to unload dollars with their eyes on an expected slowdown of the United States’ long economic expansion in 1999.
Uncertainty about the status of the U.S.-Iraq conflict also weighed somewhat on the dollar.
