Deer Park Wins Freeman Tourney

Deer Park surpassed its win total from last season by rallying for a 58-55 win over Freeman in the Freeman Tournament championship game on Wednesday.

Adam Swinyard scored 25 points, hitting 13 of 16 free throws, as the Stags came back from a five-point, third-quarter deficit to improve to 5-0. DP finished 4-16 last season.

Freeman led for the final time, 51-50, after hitting one free throw with 2:50 left. The Scotties shot 39 percent from the floor, DP 28 percent.

Andy Rice and Brian Dinning combined for 20 rebounds as the Badgers defeated the Hawks in the consolation game.

Lakeland used a press to pull within two points with 50 seconds left, but BF clinched the game with free throws.

BF defeated Lakeland 54-43 in a Dec. 18 Intermountain League opener.

Peter Eastman hit all four of his 3-point attempts and finished 7 of 8 from the field as the Indians defeated the Rams in the championship game.

Jared Flaa made 7 of 9 from the floor and Reece Jenkin added 10 rebounds and five steals for Reardan.

Reardan shot 47 percent from the floor, Riverside 30 percent.

Jarrud Watkins scored 26, hitting 10 of 21 field goals and 4 of 6 free throws, as the Spartans defeated the Chargers in the consolation game.

Watkins also had seven rebounds and four assists. Craig Shindler added 11 rebounds for Rosalia, which built a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter.
