Sly, Groh Keep West Valley From Falling To Cda
Border League
Kris Sly and Brad Groh saved West Valley from the Border League boys basketball upset of the year on Wednesday.
Sly hit three free throws with 27 seconds left and Groh drove for a layup with 3 seconds left as the Eagles edged Coeur d’Alene 58-57 to break a first-place tie with East Valley.
WV is 5-0 in league, EV 4-0. CdA dropped to 1-7.
CdA led 56-53 when a Vikings player fouled Sly on a 3-point attempt. Jeff Rupp of the Vikings followed Sly’s free throws by making the first of two free throws for a 57-56 edge with 9 seconds left.
WV’s Chris Gregg had 11 rebounds. Rupp and his brother Jason combined for 38 Vikings points.
