WSU, Ewu Bills On List Of Hearings In Olympia
Here’s a tentative list of selected committee hearings scheduled for next week. Dates and times can change on short notice; consult the Legislature’s Web page or the phone numbers at the end of this column for current information.
Family: A bill requiring dependency investigations for infants born drug-affected (HB 3008); and legislation requiring family planning services for pregnant or parenting substance abusers (HB 3009). Children and Family Services: Tuesday, House Hearing Room E at 1:30 p.m.
A bill requiring additional background checking for people caring for children (HB 3002); a bill providing tax credits for businesses spending for employee child care (HB 2641). Thursday, House Hearing Room E at 8 a.m.
Agriculture: A bill pertaining to the regulation of dairy nutrients (HB 2915). Agriculture & Ecology: Monday, House Hearing Room A at 10 a.m.
A bill regarding management of the portion of the Columbia River known as the Hanford Reach (HB 2336). Thursday, House Hearing Room A at 1:30 p.m.
Labor: A bill providing technical assistance for workplace safety standards by the Department of Labor and Industries (HB 3037); legislation that would create a program to identify and address lead-based paint hazards (HB 2966). Commerce & Labor: Monday, House Hearing Room B at 10 a.m.
A bill exempting computer wires and fiber-optic cables from electrical wiring benefits (HB 3003); a bill requiring proof that a person is seeking work before they receive unemployment benefits (HB 3021). Wednesday, House Hearing Room B at 8 a.m.
Crime: A bill prohibiting sex offenders from living within one mile of school grounds (HB 2873). Criminal Justice & Corrections: Tuesday, House Hearing Room E at 10 a.m.
Education: A bill requiring one student member on each state institution of higher education’s governing board (SB 5517); a bill that would change the Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute (SB 6655); and a bill that would transfer the Riverpoint site to WSU, eliminate the Joint Center for Higher Education, clarify the Spokane WSU branch campus and strengthen EWU in Cheney (SB 6717).
