Murder Suspect Arrested In Post Falls

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Coeur d’Alene man was arrested Monday in connection with the Jan. 30 shooting death of a north Spokane man, Idaho State Police troopers said.

Tyler M. Wiltse, 28, was jailed after troopers stopped his car on Spokane Street near the Spokane River bridge in Post Falls about 11:35 a.m. Monday.

Spokane authorities had issued a warrant for him a few hours earlier in the shooting of Wayne L. Tolbert, 32, who was found dead just inside the front door of a residence at 1314 N. Madelia early Friday.

Wiltse was booked into the Kootenai County Jail.

He waived extradition and was transported to the Spokane County Jail late Monday and is being held on a charge of second-degree murder with $100,000 bond.

Wiltse was picked up on an unrelated charge Sunday when a trooper stopped him on U.S. Highway 95 near Hayden. Troopers arrested him for driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and carrying a concealed weapon.

Evidence seized from his vehicle will be turned over to Spokane investigators.

Wiltse was released on bail because no warrant had been issued at the time.
