Rathdrum Man Injured In Shooting

Police are investigating a shooting early Wednesday that sent a Rathdrum man to the hospital with multiple wounds.

Daniel Leitz, 38, was listed in serious condition at Kootenai Medical Center. He had been shot several times, police said.

Details surrounding the shooting were sketchy. Police said only that the shooting happened within the Rathdrum city limits between midnight and 1 a.m.

KMC doctors reported the shooting when a friend of Leitz brought him to the emergency room. The friend was not injured and does not appear to be involved, police said.
