Restrictions Placed On Area Highways
Commercial trucks will be required to meet reduced speed and weight limits next week on several North Idaho highways.
Speed limits will be lowered to 35 mph beginning Tuesday. Loads will be restricted to 14,000 pounds per axle on highways 97 and 54 beginning Friday.
Transportation officials hope the temporary restrictions will help reduce wintertime wear.
The restrictions will continue for at least two or three weeks.
Affected highways include: Highway 97 from Interstate 90 to the Harrison junction with Highway 3; Highway 3 from I-90 to the Latah County line; Highway 6 from Latah County to the Santa junction; and Highway 54 from its junction with Highway 41 to Bayview.
Road restriction information will be available on the winter road report hot line at 772-0531. , DataTimes
