Second Suspected Drug Lab Raided

From Staff Reports

Pend Oreille County authorities have busted a suspected methamphetamine lab for the second time in a week.

Frank J. Cunningham Jr. and Lisa A. Davis, both 30, remained in the county jail Friday on suspicion that they manufactured the illegal drug and possessed stolen property at their Cusick-area home. Superior Court Judge Rebecca Baker set bail at $10,000 apiece pending arraignment next week.

No formal charges have been filed.

The couple was arrested Thursday by sheriff’s deputies armed with a search warrant. Officers reported finding equipment and chemicals used to make methamphetamine.

Deputy Prosecutor Tony Koures said deputies also found two purebred chow dogs believed to have been purchased in Spokane with a stolen check, and parts believed to have come from a stolen pickup valued at $30,000. He said officers also found silverware stolen from the Outpost Resort, near Cusick, where Cunningham and Davis are accused of staying three nights without paying.

Last week, sheriff’s deputies raided two Newport-area trailers and reported finding a pot of methamphetamine brewing on a wood stove as well as bombs, guns and stolen snowmobiles.

Walter “Randy” Todd, 33, pleaded innocent Thursday in that case, and co-defendant Jack K. Gannon, 36, is to be arraigned Monday.

Todd is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing methamphetamine, possessing marijuana, being a felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of an explosive device, and first- and second-degree possession of stolen property. Gannon is charged with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of the drug.
