Man, Woman Arrested On Drug, Fraud Charges
A man and woman who allegedly tried to forge a check at a Spokane Valley grocery store were jailed Monday after cocaine and suspected stolen checks and credit cards were found in their van, sheriff’s deputies said.
Charles Ross Hand, 39, of 13407 E. Trent, was booked for possession of a controlled substance and forgery. Tierra P. Madore, 20, of 807 E. Jackson, was booked on a charge of forgery.
The pair was arrested after employees reported a woman trying to pass a forged check at Albertson’s, 8851 E. Trent, at about 3:30 p.m. Monday, deputies said.
Deputy Mike Drapeau was on his way to the store when he saw the suspect’s van southbound on Argonne and pulled it over.
A search of the van turned up syringes, a substance believed to be cocaine, more than 20 checks from different accounts, bank cards and altered identification, deputies said.
Store employees identified Madore as the woman who tried to pass the forged check, deputies said. The check was found under the van’s passenger seat floor mat. , DataTimes
