Expert To Discuss Child Vaccines

A national expert on childhood diseases is coming to Idaho the first week of March to share the latest information on immunizations with the medical community.

Dr. William Atkinson will be in Coeur d’Alene March 3. He’ll speak from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at Kootenai Medical Center.

Atkinson is an epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He has conducted more than 150 vaccine training courses and lectures since 1990. His visit is being coordinated by the Idaho Immunize-by-Two Coalition.

Idaho’s immunization rate for 2-year-old children is 68 percent, which is below the national norm.
