Hall Beckons 2 Women

Jody Conradt, the winningest coach in women’s history, and Harley Redin, who won six AAU titles with Wayland Baptist, were nominated for the Basketball Hall of Fame.

The two coaches joined Boston Celtics great Larry Bird and 10 other nominees for possible induction this year. To be elected, nominees must get at least 18 votes from a 24-member honors committee.

Also nominated were: Adrian Dantley, Chet Walker, Harlem Globetrotter Marques Haynes, Larry Costello, Artis Gilmore, Gus Johnson, and Sidney Moncrief.

Already proposed as coaches were Alex Hannum, John Thompson and Tex Winter.

Conradt, who has coached Texas since 1976, has a career record of 706-206.

Redin had a 431-66 record.
