Pontiac Fires Up Firebird

The vaunted Firebird family gain power and discipline this year. The former compliments of the new LS1 V-8 from the Corvette, detuned here to 305-hp (the WS6 Ram Air option now gets you 320 hp); credit the latter to improved shock valving which yields a smoother ride. Also, there are bigger disc brakes and revised front and rear body panels.

All Bonnevilles get a high torque-capacity transmission, the uplevel Grand Prix GTP receives an improved traction-control system and the Sunfire’s standard engine gets mechanical revisions.
