Help Aplenty For Abandoned Newborn

Associated Press

Hours after a newborn infant was found abandoned in a car, people offered her a home.

The parents are unknown, and rather than being placed with one of the callers offering to take her, the 6-pound 8-ounce girl probably will be placed with a foster family by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

She was spotted by a resident about 2 a.m. Friday. She was wrapped in a yellow sheet, and the umbilical cord was still attached.

The infant was taken to St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, Boise Police Lt. Jim Tibbs said. Temperatures were in the upper 30s early Friday.
