Flood-Related Workshops Planned
Kootenai County is launching a planning effort to reduce the threat of flooding and is asking for the community’s help.
The county received about $15,000 from the state Bureau of Disaster Services to develop a plan that would reduce the effects of future flooding, improve disaster services during a flood and improve the county’s flood insurance rating.
During the next several months, the county and consultants will conduct community workshops to involve citizens in the planning effort. County residents can drop in between 4 and 6 p.m. each day to give their comments, or attend an evening workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. The workshops will be Feb. 24 at the Rathdrum Fire Station, 768 state Highway 53; Feb. 25 at the Kootenai County Extension Office, 106 E. Dalton in Coeur d’Alene; and Feb. 26 at the Rose Lake Historical Society building in Rose Lake.
