Dollar Dips Against Key Currencies

The dollar fell against most major currencies Thursday following a U.S. government report of a wider-than-expected foreign trade gap.

The dollar briefly rebounded from the day’s lows on continuing speculation that Japan’s government won’t produce the fiscal stimulus package needed to correct its ailing economy. The proposal was scheduled to be released today.

Traders also were wary of dumping dollars in advance of a weekend meeting of the Group of Seven major industrial nations in London.
