Man Sentenced For 1980 Rape
A former Spokane resident convicted of a rape committed more than 17 years ago has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Spokane County Superior Court Judge Michael Donohue last week ordered David Allen Monson to serve the maximum term possible for second-degree rape based on state guidelines in effect when the crime was committed.
A jury in December convicted Monson, 40, of raping an 18-year-old girl in his north Spokane home in July 1980. Monson claimed they had consensual sex.
He wasn’t arrested until 1994, when New York police stopped him when he entered the United States from Canada.
