House Tells Opposition To Federal Policies
Lawmakers called it “Idaho Day” at the Legislature.
Members of the House vented their opposition to the federal government on several fronts Thursday, passing memorials and a bill designed to give the state more authority over federal actions in Idaho.
The House passed a bill declaring that the Legislature must give its approval before the federal government can introduce or reintroduce any species in the state, such as wolves and grizzly bears.
And House Speaker Michael Simpson sponsored a message to Congress asking it to invalidate a proposed policy change of the U.S. Forest Service to halt road construction in roadless areas of national forests.
