The Downtown Athletic Club in New York, home of college football’s Heisman Trophy, filed for bankruptcy Friday.

“Bankruptcy is to straighten the cloud” the club is facing, club president and attorney Peter A. Junge said.

Former Heisman Trophy winner Billy Sims began a one-month jail term in Tulsa, Okla., for failing to pay child support.
