The University of Oregon likely will redshirt sophomore center Jenny Mowe because of a knee injury, coach Jody Runge said.

The 6-foot-5 Mowe will not go with the team when it opens its Pac-10 schedule Friday at California and Sunday at Stanford. Mowe has tendinitis in her right knee.

For medical redshirt status, which grants an extra year of eligibility, the NCAA requires a player to take part in no more than 20 percent of the team’s games, or just over five games in the case of the Ducks. Mowe has taken part in four. She is averaging 8.3 points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes per game.

Even though he had already secured a spot on the U.S. Olympic ski team, Todd Lodwick, 21, overcame a bad second jump in the Nordic combined, made up a 21-second deficit in the cross-country portion of the competition and edged Tim Tetreault by a foot to capture the event and the $10,000 first-place prize money in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Hometown favorite Casey Colby, who comes from a family of jumpers spanning three generations, edged Randy Weber to win the ski jump and gain the lone spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
