Governor Breaks Arm In Skiing Accident
Gov. Gary Locke broke his right arm Friday in a skiing accident while vacationing in California, a spokesman said.
The governor was treated at Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe for a break in the humerus, or upper arm bone, nursing supervisor Margaret Ritter confirmed. He was released at about 6 p.m. Friday. She would not discuss the severity of the break or other details.
Locke was on a family vacation in California with his wife, Mona, spokesman Chris Thompson said.
Thompson said he did not know the ski area involved nor many details of the accident. He said the governor is “not a highly accomplished skier” but added he didn’t know how long Locke had been skiing.
The Washington Democrat will return from his vacation on Monday, as planned, Thompson said.
