Lewiston Tips East Valley In Ot Thriller

Lewiston tipped and East Valley toppled on Friday.
Chris Reineke’s tip-in with 8 seconds left in overtime lifted the visiting Bengals (6-3, 3-2) over East Valley 55-54 in a boys Border League game.
Jesse Quirk of East Valley (0-8, 0-5) had a tip-in at the regulation buzzer and a jumper with 28 seconds left in OT for a one-point lead. The Knights’ Andrew Burgess missed an 8-foot running jumper at the end.
Lewiston’s Carson Egland scored 11 second-half points. East Valley’s Adam Sitton hit three 3-pointers before fouling out.

Kris Sly had nine first-quarter points, seven assists and four steals for WV, which rallied with a 16-3 second-half run. West Valley’s Chris Gregg added eight rebounds. Sandpoint’s Paul Nieman hit four 3’s and scored 20 in the second half.

Moscow made 7 of 16 3-pointers, 4 of 7 by Brown, and added 26-of-36 shooting from the line. The Lumberjacks’ Mark Raebel hit 8 of 14 from the field.

Huffman added 12 rebounds as West Valley overcame a 2-for-19 long-range performance in the first half. Natalie Ward had nine rebounds and Jill Verby four steals for Sandpoint.

EV missed three final field-goal attempts. Michelle Bausch had seven rebounds and Loren Albright eight assists for the Bengals. For East Valley, April Tomblin scored 22 on 10-of-12 shooting from the floor, Rachelle Schultz had eight rebounds and Jessica Conard added six assists.
