Team USA defeated dethroned champion Canada 3-0 Friday at the World Junior Hockey Championships and earned the right to play Sweden for fifth place.

Sweden downed Kazakstan 5-1.

The U.S., a silver medalist last year, posted only its third victory in 23 games against Canada at the World Championship level.

Meanwhile, Finland and Russia qualified for the final. The Finns defeated Switzerland 2-1 and Russia downed the Czech Republic 5-1 in the semifinals.
