Former Teacher Registers As Sex Offender
Mary Kay LeTourneau, the former Burien teacher who bore the baby of a 13-year-old former student, registered Tuesday as a sex offender.
LeTourneau, 35, was released from jail Friday after completing a six-month sentence, with credit for time served and good behavior. She completed the forms to register as a sex offender at the King County Courthouse and plans to live in Seattle.
Police will determine whether neighbors will be notified.
LeTourneau is under the supervision of a community corrections officer. She must enter a sex-offender treatment program and have no contact with the former student.
She pleaded guilty in August to raping the sixth-grade boy in 1996. Their baby was born in May and is being raised by the boy’s mother.
