Mount St. Helens Annual Passes Available For $16
It’s getting cheaper for some people to visit Mount St. Helens.
Effective immediately, an annual pass for the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument will be $16, down from $24, the U.S. Forest Service announced this week. The $15 fee to scale the 8,363-foot peak from Nov. 1 through March 31 will be waived.
The cost of a three-day pass, which is needed to enter the three U.S. Forest Service Visitor Centers along Spirit Lake Memorial Highway, Ape Cave and other interpretive sites, remains unchanged at $8.
Admissions fees, which took effect for the first time at the volcano March 17, raised slightly more than $2 million between March and Sept. 30, the end of the federal fiscal year. Climbing fees raised another $107,800.
