Protester Sentenced

Mats Hinze, 26, was sentenced to seven years in prison for an arson and attempted bombing that were apparent protests against Stockholm’s bid for the 2004 Olympics.

Hinze was arrested in September in Stockholm carrying a bomb toward a statue that had been used as the symbol of the unsuccessful Olympics bid. The arrest came the night before the International Olympic Committee voted to give the Games to Athens, Greece.
