Kootenai County Building Permits Up

The number of building permits in Kootenai County more than doubled in December, with 70 permits issued compared with 34 a year earlier. Total valuations for the month were $2.25 million, an increase of more than $1 million over December 1996.

For all of 1997, Kootenai County issued 1,424 permits with a total valuation of $55.8 million. Although permits increased by 61 for the year, the valuation decreased by more than $2.5 million compared with 1996.

The number of single-family homes and their total value remained virtually unchanged at 310 homes valued at $39.4 million.

Sixty-two commercial projects were permitted, valued at $3.56 million, compared with 45 commercial projects at a value of $4.6 million the year before. , DataTimes
