Woods Back In Hunt

Compiled From Wire Services

Tiger Woods stormed back into contention in the Mercedes Championships before nature unleashed a storm of its own and washed out the second round with only four golfers having finished 36 holes.

Woods, who started the day seven strokes behind leader John Cook, made an eagle on the 538-yard ninth hole for a 32 on the front nine and picked up two more birdies to get to 6 under through 14 holes before heavy rain washed out play.

Cook got in seven holes and was 10 under for 25 holes, two strokes ahead of Phil Mickelson and three better than Nick Price and Frank Nobilo.

Woods, Ernie Els, David Duval and Stewart Cink were all at 6-under.

The second round will resume today, followed by the third round.
