Haskins Named Coach
Clem Haskins, who led Minnesota to its first Final Four appearance last season and was an assistant on the 1996 U.S. Olympic team, today was appointed coach of the U.S. men’s basketball team for the Goodwill Games.
Haskins will coach a team of collegiate players in the quadrennial competition, to be held July 18-Aug. 2 in New York.
He was an assistant to Lenny Wilkens in Atlanta in 1996 when the U.S. won the Olympic gold medal.
