Teen Held In Beating Of Youth With Bricks
A 17-year-old Spokane boy has been arrested as a suspect in the vicious beating of another juvenile Saturday morning on the 2300 block of West Sinto.
Police did not identify the boy who was arrested for allegedly beating Theodore “Teddy” Francis Stewart, 17, of Spokane.
Stewart had his face severely beaten with bricks. He was unconscious and in critical condition at Sacred Heart Medical Center on Monday.
“You couldn’t even tell who he is,” said Stewart’s mother, Kathy Barnum. “He doesn’t even know who I am.”
Barnum said that doctors told her Stewart may have suffered severe brain damage and may have lost the ability to talk or walk.
“He’s doing real bad,” she said. “One more blow with those bricks and Teddy probably would have been dead.”
Barnum believes several other boys were involved in the beating. Police would not confirm that Monday, but said the case is still under investigation.
Stewart had been at a friend’s house where people were drinking before the beating, Barnum said.
