Serena Williams, the younger sister of Venus Williams, upset third-ranked Lindsay Davenport to reach the semifinals of the Sydney International tennis tournament.

Williams, only 16 and ranked No. 96, fashioned a 1-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory.
