U.S. Needs Goalie
Tony Meola, the starter for the United States in the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, may play his first game for the U.S. in more than 3-1/2 years when it meets Sweden in an exhibition game Jan. 24.
Meola became the only goalkeeper on the roster after Mark Dodd was cut because of a strained quadriceps. U.S. coach Steve Sampson said, however, he intends to add another goalkeeper to the roster next week.
