Woman, Baby Flee Burning Spokane Home

From Staff And Wire Reports

A woman and her 18-month-old child escaped unharmed after they woke up to a fire burning in the ceiling and walls of their north Spokane home early Friday, Spokane fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at 203-1/2 E. Cleveland at about 2:15 a.m.

An improperly wired electric heating panel had overloaded, causing the fire to spread through the walls, firefighters said.

It damaged the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and roof area of the home, which was being remodeled, firefighters said.

There were no smoke detectors in the home. , DataTimes
