No. 7 Pioneers Sink Pirates

Lewis and Clark, the No. 7 team in NAIA Division II, built a 12-point halftime lead by shooting 58 percent from the field and went on to defeat Whitworth 85-74 in an NCIC game Saturday at Portland.

The losing Pirates (8-4, 2-2) were led by Ryan Nelson with 21 points, including five 3-pointers.

The Sasquatch rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit but came up short in an NWAACC game at Wenatchee.

With the score tied at 66 and 20 seconds remaining, Wenatchee’s Kaala Knell hit two free throws for a two-point lead. After a CCS turnover, its 20th of the game, Wenatchee Valley’s Mikel Ward then made one of his two foul shots.
