Associated Press

Pac-10/Big Sky/WCC

Kris Johnson scored 20 points - his third straight game with 20 or more - and No. 9 UCLA defeated Southern California 101-84 Wednesday night in Los Angeles, its seventh straight vic tory over the crosstown rival Trojans.

The Bruins (14-3, 5-2 Pac-10) trailed by five points at the beginning of the game, then went on a 37-9 run to take a 23-point lead.

The Trojans (6-11, 2-5) lost their seventh straight on the road and kept second-year coach Henry Bibby, who played on three NCAA championship teams at UCLA, winless in four meetings against his alma mater.

Johnson turned in his third straight solid showing, coming off the 43-point, 22-rebound performances he had in two road games last weekend when the Bruins defeated California by one and lost to Stanford by 13.
