Leaders Strengthen Grip On Top Of Basketball Polls

It was nearly unanimous across the board.

No teams entered or left the Associated Press Idaho high school basketball poll this week, and the four class leaders strengthened their holds on the No. 1 rankings.

Capital once again was the unanimous pick among the biggest schools, beating Skyview and Nampa to stay undefeated.

Once-beaten Pocatello remained second after a two-point victory at previously third-ranked Twin Falls. The Bruins dropped to fifth, trading places with Highland of Pocatello. Skyline remained fourth.

In A-2, Bishop Kelly was the unanimous pick one week after splitting first-place votes with Preston and Moscow. Preston dropped two spots to fourth after a 10-point loss to Snake River, which moved up two spots to third.

Moscow dropped one spot to No. 5 after a 16-point loss to A-1 Lake City of Coeur d’Alene. Emmett assumed the No. 2 ranking. Two A-2 victories moved the Huskies up one spot.

Top-ranked Declo remained undefeated and atop the A-3 poll.

The A-4 rankings remained unchanged, but No. 1 Troy took more first-place votes from No. 2 Hagerman. Lakeside remained third after two victories, and Rockland and Raft River held the final two spots.

Lake City’s girls remained No. 1 in the A-1 poll, while Moscow and Bonners Ferry stayed put in the A-2 and Lakeside is still among the A-4 leaders.
