Wanted: Snow!

If for no other reason than aesthetics when the Medical Lake Parks & Recreation Department stages Snowfest on Jan. 31.

A softball tournament and fun run/walk are planned for Waterfront Park at Medical Lake that day.

The specifics:

Softball will be double-elimination, coed slowpitch using ASA rules and 16-inch fluorescent balls. Team entry fee is $175 for a 12-person roster ($10 extra per player) with participants receiving a long-sleeved shirt. Deadline is 5 p.m. today.

The fun run/walk will be 3 miles around Medical Lake on the lake trail starting at 10 a.m. Registration is $15 by 5 p.m. today, but you can register until 9:30 a.m. race day for a $5 late fee. Check-in is 9:30. Participants receive a long-sleeved shirt and refreshments.
