Albertsons Will Acquire Buttrey

Boise-based Albertsons Inc. announced this week that it will acquire Buttrey Food and Drug Stores Co. for $15.50 per share. The transaction will allow Albertsons to get into new markets, company officials say.

Buttrey, headquartered in Great Falls, Mont., is a supermarket and pharmacy retailer that operates 43 stores in Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming.

Albertsons, one of the country’s largest retail food-drug chains, operates 866 retail stores in 20 states.
