One Killed, One Hurt In Explosion

A 21-year-old man was killed and a woman was critically injured in an explosion at an auto repair shop near here, authorities said. A second man was less seriously injured.

Matthew Peter Komar died at the scene Thursday night. Firefighters said Komar was trapped inside the building and was overcome by smoke.

Mark Rhinehart, 20, was outside the building when the fire started and suffered minor injuries. Starr M. Benson, 31, was reported in critical condition with burns over 50 percent of her body.

Authorities said Rhinehart was siphoning gasoline outside the building when a spark started the fire. Benson and Komar were in the back of the building and were trapped by flames.
