Monatana Snowmobiler Seventh To Die In Avalanches

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Columbia Falls snowmobiler was buried in an avalanche Saturday afternoon, the seventh person to die in Montana snow slides this month.

Several people were snowmobiling near Inspiration Pass, which is near the crest of the Swan Divide northwest of Condon. The avalanche buried a 21-year-old man, but hazardous conditions and darkness kept rescuers from reaching the scene.

The search for the victim will resume this morning. His name was being withheld until his family could be notified.
