Lindow Improves, Moved Into Cardiac Unit

From Staff And Wire Reports

FROM FOR THE RECORD (Wednesday, January 28, 1998): Correction Briefly column correction: The first name of Fran Boxer, Spokane County’s assistant chief administrative officer, was incorrect in Tuesday’s Briefly column on Page B3.

Jim Lindow, Spokane County’s top unelected official, remained hospitalized Monday after a weekend heart attack.

Lindow was moved to Deaconess Medical Center’s cardiac unit on Monday following two days in intensive care, said county Commissioner Kate McCaslin, who works with Lindow daily. A hospital spokeswoman said Lindow was in satisfactory condition Monday.

Lindow, 52, will be away from the courthouse for six to eight weeks, county officials said. Frank Boxer, assistant chief administrative officer, will assume Lindow’s responsibilities until he returns.

The soft-spoken Lindow, who was named chief administrative officer three years ago, recently underwent a battery of heart tests that showed no problems, McCaslin said. He collapsed Saturday evening while exercising at a fitness club. , DataTimes
