Key Tronic Posts Improved Earnings

Key Tronic Corp.’s profit picture continued on a slight improvement trend during the second quarter of fiscal 1998.

Net income for the quarter was $248,000, or 3 cents per share, on sales of $44.1 million. That compares to net income of $56,000, or 1 cent per share, on sales of $47.1 million during the second quarter last year.

The second-quarter result built on the company’s first quarter, when it had profits of $143,000 on sales of $40.3 million.

Compared to the second quarter of fiscal 1997, Key Tronic reduced operating expenses by 8 percent.

“Our restructuring efforts in recent years appear to have taken hold,” Jack Oehlke, Key Tronic’s president and chief executive officer, said in a news release. “We maintained our operating efficiencies and improved sales during the quarter.”

Key Tronic is a leading designer and manufacturer of computer keyboards, computer input devices and engineered devices.
