Vote ‘yes’ for schools
Once again, all of us senior citizens have the chance to help our grandkids and great-grandkids (they’re all great, aren’t they?).
We can go to the polls on Feb 3 and cast our “yes” votes for the schools.
We may not be kids anymore, but now we can help all those wonderful kids in our Valley with our strong senior citizen “yes” vote.

Respect Newman Lake!
As homeowners at Newman Lake, we have recently been assessed a nearly 50 percent increase in the portion of our real estate taxes pertaining to general upkeep of the lake.
We were fortunate enough to have purchased our property several years ago when it was reasonably affordable. Even at that, it is mostly because of sweat equity that we are still able to live here. That being said, we have no objection to the purpose of the tax increase, provided it is being used properly and is having a positive effect.
With spring coming soon (let’s hope), we would like to make a plea to all that live at or enjoy this beautiful lake. Please treat it like you lived here and remember that every time you do something to degrade it, it has cumulative effect.
We would like to think that we all have a stake in the future of all of our waterways and understand the importance they can play if properly maintained. So, please, think twice before throwing your trash overboard.
If we want to continue having beautiful places to live and recreate, we must all so our part in keeping them that way. William P. and Karen L. Ames Newman Lake
