Child-Rape Suspects Face Six New Charges Men Linked To Incidents With Three More Children
Two Spokane men accused of raping and sexually exploiting four children now face six new charges involving three more children.
Spokane prosecutors filed the new charges Tuesday against Gregory L. McCrea, 54, and Daniel Alan Gard, 32. Both men remain in custody on $100,000 cash bonds at Spokane County jail.
They’ll be arraigned today on the new charges, resulting from an ongoing investigation of videotapes seized from their apartments.
Earlier this month, Gard and McCrea were charged with 10 separate counts of child rape and sexual exploitation of minors. The alleged victims ranged from 3 to 9 years old.
The new charges are alleged to have occurred at apartments rented by Gard and McCrea between 1993 and 1996.
Prosecutors now are charging McCrea and Gard with first-degree child rape for having sex with a girl who was 9 years old at the time.
Gard is also being charged with a second count of first-degree child rape involving the same child in a separate incident, said Deputy Prosecutor Ed Hay.
In addition, Hay added two new counts of first-degree child molestation against Gard and McCrea. Those involve a girl who was 6 years old when the alleged abuse began, he said.
The sixth new charge, against McCrea, is a new count of first-degree child molestation involving a boy who was between 6 and 9 at the time, Hay said.
Only one of the three children from the new charges is related to those from the initial 10 counts, Hay said.
Hay said the statute of limitations will force him to drop three of the original exploitation charges against McCrea and Gard.
Prosecutors must file a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor within three years of the offense. In three of the counts against the two men, the incidents allegedly happened in 1994, Hay said.
