Special Program Targets Motorists
Be safe or be cited.
That’s the message law enforcement officers in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia will be delivering to motorists when they launch a special safety emphasis patrol today.
The Three Flags safety program will run until July 12, Spokane police officer Michelle Hinger said.
Officers will target speeders, drunken drivers and people who don’t use their seat belts or neglect to strap their children into safety seats. Fines for violations start at $71.
Volunteers also will be conducting surveys throughout the region to determine how many people are using seat belts.
