Wells Fargo Held Up

Two men wearing ski masks robbed a north Spokane bank Tuesday, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash and purses from two tellers.

The bandits entered the Wells Fargo branch at Monroe and Francis about 9:30 a.m., police said. One of the men pulled out a semiautomatic pistol and demanded money.

The robbers grabbed a bag of cash and the purses, then ran to a car that was being driven by a third man. No shots were fired, and no one was hurt.

A dye pack in the money bag exploded just outside the branch and authorities recovered some of the cash, police said.

Witnesses said all three men were black, and that they escaped in a gray car, possibly a 1980s-model Cadillac, with a black vinyl top. They were last seen driving south on Lincoln Street.

Wells Fargo is offering a $5,000 reward for information on the robbers. Tipsters should call Crime Check at 456-2233.
