A hay barn and an outbuilding were destroyed in a fire that burned about 54 acres along Spangle Creek Road in south Spokane County, Fire District 3 officials said.

The fire started about 2:30 p.m. in an area about two miles east of state Highway 195. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, officials said.

A barn and at least three cars were burned in a small fire near the Pend Oreille County line, Spokane County Fire District 4 officials said.

There was no estimate on how many acres were burned or the cause of the fire that started just before 2 p.m. at Kirkpatrick and Juanita roads.

Spokane firefighters battled a two-acre blaze on Beacon Hill near Esmeralda Golf Course.

Firefighters were called to the area about 3:30 p.m. and quickly had the fire under control, city fire officials said.

There were no injuries or buildings destroyed in that fire.
