United Security Completes Purchase
United Security Bancorporation has completed the $10 million purchase of Grant National Bank following approval by shareholders and regulators.
Grant, with branches in Ephrata and Moses Lake, will retain its name, staff and separate board of directors.
The bank becomes the fourth owned by Spokane-based United Security, which also operates United Security Bank in Spokane, Home Security Bank in Sunnyside, and Bank of Pullman.
Together, the banks have 26 branches, although plans call for two branches in Moses Lake to be consolidated.
Terms of the transaction, first announced in March, call for Grant National shareholders to receive 14 shares of United Security stock for each share of Grant National they own.
Grant National had $32 million in assets when the deal closed.
United Security President Richard Emery said the transaction would cause a slight dilution of earnings in 1998, but add to earnings during 1999.
