Man Dies When Car Collides With Train

A 71-year-old Valleyford man was killed when a train hit his car Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Leo A. Berner’s Subaru was struck on the railroad tracks crossing Washington Road, a mile north of Freeman, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Berner died at the scene of the 1:25 p.m. crash. His vehicle was totalled.
