Principal Named At Mcdonald

McDonald Elementary School has a new principal, Jan Lenhart.

Lenhart has worked for Central Valley School District since 1989 and will take over at McDonald in the fall.

Last year’s principal, Olivia McCarthy, took a one-year leave of absence.

Lenhart most recently worked as coordinator of elementary programs and curriculum for the district. She has taught preschool, first and second grade, and she has taught in the intervention reading program.

“I am so excited,” Lenhart said. “I am looking forward to working with the community, the parents, of course the children and the wonderful staff.”

Adjusting McDonald’s curriculum so that state education reform goals can be better met is one of Lenhart’s priorities. Her previous position put her in an excellent position to do that, she said.

She also cited school safety as a concern.
